Propolis Extract: Calming Antimicrobial Care for Red, Acne-Prone Skin

Propolis extract offers antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant support for reactive, acne-prone skin. Learn how to combine propolis with niacinamide and blue LED therapy, and why bee-allergic or pregnant users should consult a doctor first.

Efficacy

Propolis extract is rich in flavonoids and polyphenols, offering antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. It helps reduce breakouts and redness, support minor wound healing and protect against environmental stress, ideal for reactive, blemish-prone skin.

Suitable

  • Suitable for combination/oily, acne-prone and redness-prone skin.
  • Avoid in people allergic to bee products; pregnant users should consult a doctor before using propolis.

Pair – other ingredients

  • Good with: Works nicely with niacinamide, zinc PCA, centella and aloe vera for calming acne-prone, reactive skin.
  • Avoid / caution: Avoid combining with very alcohol-heavy or essential-oil-heavy formulas on sensitive skin.

Pair with beauty device

On days without propolis on the skin, use a blue LED mask to further reduce acne bacteria and inflammation, while relying on propolis-based serums on off-device days for ongoing antimicrobial and soothing support.

Skin Type

Best for combination/oily, acne-prone and redness-prone skin; unsuitable for bee-allergic individuals, and pregnancy use should be doctor-approved.

⚠️ Expert Safety Tips & Usage Guidelines

To ensure the best results and safety when using our skincare devices and products, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Conductivity Matters

When using RF (Radio Frequency) or EMS (Microcurrent) devices, you MUST use a water-based gel or serum. Oil-based products will block the current, rendering the device ineffective and potentially causing heat accumulation on the skin surface.

Avoid Active Acids

On days you use energy-based devices (especially RF or heating modes), please pause the use of strong active ingredients such as AHAs, BHAs, or Retinol. Combining high heat with potent exfoliants may damage the skin barrier and cause irritation.

Patch Test First

Before applying any new serum or gel to your face, always perform a patch test on your inner arm or behind the ear. Wait 24 hours to ensure no allergic reaction occurs.

Strict Sun Protection

Post-treatment skin (especially after Brightening or LED therapy) can be photosensitive. You must apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily to prevent UV damage and pigmentation rebound.
